St Mark’s 74th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Church
September 29
29 September 1949: The Consecration of the Church (St Mark’s Catholic Church Drummoyne) on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel in 1949 was an event. Parishioner Tony Ficarra was chosen as an Altar boy for this event in 1949 and was delighted with a day off school! Monsignor Meany and Father Reynolds were the Parish priest at that time and weaved their way around the Church with weather just right for a liturgy full of meaning. The Church statues were cleaned, the marble was polished and repairs were done. Over the years Tony has recounted his story and if you ask him today, I am sure he will tell it again as we celebrate 74 years of the Dedication of our Church.
