We are an active parish which relies on the volunteers from within to help. Each Ministry is an invitation and an opportunity to serve and to be involved in the Parish community.

Ministries

Liturgical Ministries

Ministers of the Word: Proclaiming the Holy Scriptures at Mass on a rostered basis. 

Altar & Eucharistic Ministries: Adult servers and junior servers prepare for Mass and assist the priest during the Mass. 

Extraordinary ministers distribute holy communion under both kinds.

Music Ministry: Lead the community in sung parts of the Mass and hymns.

Children’s Liturgy: During school terms parents help children understand the gospel and pray with the children.

Ministry to the Sick: Parishioners take holy communion to the sick, housebound and help people attend the Mass of Anointing.

Welcomers/Wardens: Welcoming people to Mass and assisting with collections.

RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults supports those wishing to be received into the Church at Easter with a journey over several months. Parishioner team support is vital.

St Mark’s School: Faith development between school families, the parish community and involvement in family Mass Sunday several times a year.

Parish Groups

Parish Pastoral Council: Members serve in a collaborative ministry with the parish priest.

Liturgy Committee: Prepares ahead for the liturgical life of the parish.

Finance Committee: Supports the parish priest with financial matters and future planning and budgeting for now and into the future.

Catechists: Parishioners teach scripture at Drummoyne Public School weekly.

Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist & Confirmation:Parish-based preparation happens in small groups with the support of parents.

Catholic Women’s League: Meets monthly (Feb – Oct) for discussion and prayer. Supports Church charities and provides a social and intellectual forum for women’s issues. CWL is a state, national and internationally connected organisation in the Church.

On Lion Magazine: Parish magazine produced during the year on parish happenings.

Outreach Groups

St Vincent de Paul: Meets every 2nd and 4th Monday evening and visits people in need with food supplies.

St Canice’s Kitchen: Serves meals on a Sunday on a rostered basis at St Canice’s Parish Darlinghurst.

Macquarie Hospital Group: Prepares and serves morning tea to patients.

Youth: Reaching out to our youth supporting them through social, spiritual and friendship opportunities, assisting with activities and youth Masses.

Prayer Network: Praying for the needs of others.

Prayer Group: Meets weekly in the parish centre.

Sunshine Club: Long-standing seniors’ group that meets for lunch locally.
